Voluntary ORV Registration Extended to Nov. 1, 2015
Mandatory off-road vehicle registration is being deterred from June 1 to Nov. 1, 2015.
The extension is intended to provide additional time for off-road users to prepare the mandatory registration, while the regulatory details are still being finalized on both registration and safety.
Early next fall, an ICBC-issued numbered sticker will be available for off road vehicles (ORV) who would prefer a sticker instead of registration plate number. ORV owners who have already taken advantage of the voluntary registration period and received a plate may later on exchange their plate for a sticker if they choose.
Full details will be announced early next fall, with implementation for both voluntary and mandatory registration. Safety provisions are to begin Nov. 1, 2015. In the meantime, voluntary one-time registration for operating an ORV on crown land will continue with the combined cost of the registration certificate and ORV number plate remaining at $48.
ORV Owners can register at any ICBC insurance brokers in the province.
