News Release: HUB International Executive Named One of Canada's Most Powerful Women
Burnaby, BC, December 3, 2013 – Hub International Limited, a leading global insurance brokerage, is pleased to announce that Tina Osen, Chief Executive Officer, Hub International Insurance Brokers, Greater Vancouver operations, has been named to the list of the Women's Executive Network’s (WXN) 2013 Canada's Most Powerful Women: Top 100 Awards.
The awards will be presented Wednesday, December 4th at the Sheraton Centre Toronto during the Women’s Executive Network Top 100 Leadership Summit and Awards Gala, themed “What Glass Ceiling?”
“Given her track record for excellence and leadership at the local, regional, national and international levels of our company and in our profession, we’re very proud of the recognition accorded to Tina,” said Larry Lineker, President, Canadian Operations, Hub International Limited. “We appreciate the work being done by the Women’s Executive Network in recognizing top female business leaders, and we congratulate this year’s Top 100 Award Winners.”
Co-presented by Scotiabank and KPMG, the Awards celebrate and highlight the professional achievements of women across the country in the private, public and not-for-profit sectors at a time when corporate Canada is under growing pressure to promote more female leaders into senior management and corporate director roles. More than 1,100 people will be in attendance at this year’s Gala.
Speakers at the Summit will include Lisa Lisson, President of FedEx Express Canada, Christine Magee, President & Co-Founder of Sleep Country Canada, Dr. Fiona Costello, Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Calgary, and Sue Paish, CEO of Lifelabs. The keynote speech at the Gala will be delivered by Dr. Roberta Bondar, who shattered the glass ceiling when she became the first Canadian female astronaut and neurologist in space aboard NASA’s 1992 space shuttle Discovery. Returning for the second year as Gala Emcee is News Anchor Anne-Marie Mediwake, co-host of CBC News Toronto and 2011 Consumers’ Choice Awards’ GTA Woman of the Year.
“As with any personal recognition, it only reflects the principles of shared leadership, employee engagement and team work that has made Hub International what it is today in British Columbia, Canada and throughout North America and Brazil,” said Osen, who has served as a Hub International CEO since 2004. “I’m honoured to be on such a dynamic list of Canadian business and community role models and I’m inspired by the opportunity to support the Women’s Executive Network in its work to promote the contributions of female leaders across the country.”
With close to 20 years of experience in the insurance sector, Osen is a recognized leader and innovator who champions employee empowerment, customer service, environmental responsibility and community investment in her role as CEO of the Greater Vancouver operations of Hub International. In addition to her responsibilities as CEO, Osen is a member of the Executive Committee of the Hub Group of Companies, which includes 22 Presidents in North America and Brazil.
Osen is a past director of the Vancouver Board of Trade and Education-Elect Officer for the Young Presidents Organization.
