Importance of Preventing Truck & Trailer Contamination
Carriers are being reminded by US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) that conveyances of all types are capable of transporting dangerous species or diseases, regardless of the kind of cargo; regulated agricultural products are not the only cargo to become contaminated.
CBP has created an informative presentation to promote awareness and best practices for prevention. Some of the topics in the presentation include:
- What is carrier conveyance contamination?
- Why are contaminants a concern?
- Examples of conveyance contamination
- CBP efforts to prevent contamination
- Best practices for carriers
For a copy of the presentation, please click here. Self-inspection practices help carriers save time and money by reducing delays and the duration of CBP inspections, as well as holds on cargo or additional charges for cleaning conveyances.
