Chain-Up Regulations Across North America
With winter driving conditions in full swing across many provinces and states, it's important to be aware of the chain-up requirements in the regions you are traveling through. Not all provinces and states have the same requirements, so review this list to find out the regulations in those areas you'll be driving in.
A few interesting things to note:
- Only the province of British Columbia requires tire chains. All other provinces and territories do not have requirements to use tire chains.
- 43 US states have chain-up regulations in one form or another.
Thanks to the Manitoba Trucking Association and the BC Trucking Association for putting this list together and sharing with their members. To see the full article, please see North American Chain-Up Requirements published by the BC Trucking Association (November 6, 2014).
