Best Practices: Photograph Your Fleet
Thefts of tractors and trailers are not uncommon, whether you drive within BC, across Canada, or into the US. A good practice to maintain is keeping a clear photo of each truck, tractor and trailer in your fleet, so that you can provide it to the authorities should anything go missing. If you are a member of the BC Trucking Association (BCTA), you can also provide them with a photo of any equipment that goes missing, and they will send out a "stolen equipment" notification to other members at no cost to you.
A picture makes it far easier for both police and other vehicle operators to identify a vehicle, as it's not always easy to make out a plate number. If a theft occurs, and you are a BCTA member, you can scan photos along with a completed Stolen Equipment Notice to Jennifer Cameron, BCTA’s Office Coordinator, at firstname.lastname@example.org, and she will make sure other members stay on the lookout for your vehicle or equipment.
