CBSA System Changes Could Impact Carriers
The Canadian Border Services Agency (CBSA) recently announced changes that could impact users of the eManifest Portal and Trusted Trader Portal, especially those with older technology like Windows XP and Windows Vista.
The computing industry is in the process of eliminating certain security protocols that are more than 10 years old. To accommodate these changes, CBSA is updating its own security requirements in two phases; the first beginning July 31, 2016, and the second on December 31, 2016.
Please see the following CBSA Bulletins for details and directions to upgrade Firefox and Internet Explorer browsers.
- Effective July 31, 2016 (changes to encryption rules; will most likely affect systems more than five years old)
- Effective December 31, 2016 (older encryption systems will be disabled; will most likely affect computers more than three years old)
Please ensure your technology and IT personnel are aware of the upcoming changes and can make the necessary upgrades described t the links above.
