Moving Between Provinces Will Be Made Easier In 2015
Starting April 1st, 2015, people moving between the provinces of British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan are eligible for an inspection exemption and immediate vehicle registration if their vehicle is:
- Not a rebuilt vehicle
- Not a commercial vehicle that falls under the Commercial Vehicle Inspection Program (CVIP)
- And is either less than four years old or has been inspected at a designated inspection facility within the last 90 days.
When the new rules are put into effect, those moving into the province are required to get an exemption decal and document issued by B.C.’s Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement (CVSE) before they can register and insure their vehicle.
The changes were announced by premiers Brad Wall, Alison Redford and Christy Clark as a way to make it easier, quicker and less costly for workers and their families to transition to new jobs while ensuring that unsafe vehicles are repaired or taken off the road.
