As of June 1, 2016, the fine associated with a distracted driving violation ticket will increase from $167 to $368, with penalty points for driver records also increasing from 3 points to 4. The total cost to a driver for a first infraction will be $543, and if a second infraction occurs within a year that amount will increase to $888.
