Criteria Must Be Met When Registering Vehicles Built From Glider Kits
ICBC has recently confirmed it will only register, license and insure newly constructed vehicles with glider kits that are in compliance. ICBC is also working to correct existing vehicle registrations to ensure these vehicles are properly registered and display an appropriate VIN.
If ICBC has not yet contacted you, or you have questions about your glider kit vehicle or are considering purchasing one, please contact ICBC’s Vehicle Registration Program at 604-982-6832 or talk to your insurance broker.
ICBC requires customers prove that their reconstructed vehicle is fully compliant with Transport Canada criteria. Customers must provide all of the following documentation:
- proof the kit was properly imported
- proof of ownership of the donor vehicle(s) and/or drivetrain components
- proof of used condition of the drivetrain component parts
- application for a BC Assigned VIN (MV1325)
